WHAT TO EXPECT

FAQs and Other Random Thoughts

Below you can find a list of frequently asked questions and helpful answers.

WHAT I EDIT

I primarily edit the following:

  • Romance

    • Contemporary

    • Dark

    • Erotic

    • Fantasy/Paranormal

    • Historical

    • New Adult (NA)

  • Young Adult (YA)​

I prefer to edit these genres because they are the types of stories I enjoy reading. I am open to other genres, but if I don't believe I'm a good fit for your book, I'll let you know.

THE EDITING PROCESS

Once I receive your manuscript, I will do a clean read-through prior to making any edits. I will then go in, proofread/edit, and will proceed to do another read-through to ensure I catch everything I can.

All edits will be completed via Google Docs. I add my edits via the "Suggesting" feature, which means you will have the final say in all edits as the author. At times I may leave comments when I'm looking for clarification and, if you would like to discuss a change I made, please let me know.

TURNAROUND TIME

The turnaround time for each manuscript will vary. This could be dependent on word count, deadline, my existing workload, etc. Please reach out to me if you have concerns regarding the turnaround time.

Need your editing job expedited?

If I'm able to, I can prioritize your manuscript. A rush fee will apply, and a custom quote will be provided during our consultation.

YOUR CONTRACT

After I return the edited first chapter or five pages you provided (24-48 hour turnaround depending on workload), we will take the next step toward our working relationship. We will discuss your manuscript (genre, word count, deadlines I need to keep in mind, etc.), the editing I provided and how they align with what you're looking for, and your goals. At this stage we will also review the price for editorial services.

OUR DYNAMIC

Throughout your contract it is my hope that we have open lines of communication with one another. If you have any questions or concerns at any point throughout the editing process, please feel free to reach out to me.

PAYMENT

Once we have worked out an agreement, a PayPal invoice will be sent to the email you provided at booking. A 50% deposit is due at booking, and the remaining amount due on your invoice will be paid once the work on your manuscript has been completed. Once full payment has been made, I will send your completed manuscript.

REFUNDS

Unfortunately, due to the nature of this work, refunds will not be provided. Should you decide during this process that you would like to cease our working relationship, you are able to do so. If this happens, you forfeit the 50% deposit you paid at booking but are not held responsible for the remaining balance.

DISCOUNTS

I provide a 10% discount off the total cost of services for the following members and/or clients of:​

  • MadCap Crew

  • S.A.S.S.

During our consultation, please mention that you are a member of one of the above groups. Proof of membership must be provided at time of booking.
